I went to the Spanish meetup yesterday and I met an amazing couple in their 50s, and English man and a Cuban woman. Amazing is actually the way they met and how they managed to get married. The man went on a holiday to Cuba, sat down on a bench in a park and met the woman of his life. They couldn't communicate because she didn't speak any English and he didn't speak Spanish. So he bought a book to learn Spanish and he learnt the language very quickly. They went through a horrible bureaucracy procedures to get her out of Cuba. They met 7 years ago, have been living together in London for 2 years and they are madly in love with each other (you can see it straight away...). She still doesn't speak any English, we had a long conversation in Spanish yesterday and we decided to meet up again, for a Cuban dinner or to drink Cuban ron.
Today I went to a bbq organised by Kirsten from Couch Surfing. She found my profile on the website and because she liked it, she invited me to her house. I knew nobody at the party but it was great - nice people (there was 1 Couch Surfer more), hot weather (30 degrees!!!), excellent food and Pimm's. I love Pimm's (in the picture).
