On Thursday we left to Marsala, with Fausto's parents, for the last wedding of cousin Luca and Silvana. We stayed in a very nice and comfortable B&B right in the centre of the city, yet the rooms were very quiet.
In the evening we went to Cantina Sociale Birgi where our favourite wine is made. I started buying Trinacria several years ago to support Sicilian economy and soon I realised that it's an excellent and inexpensive wine. There is why I wanted to visit the Cantina. We were kindly given a tour by the staff working there as they were happy that we buy their wine in London. They made us feel very welcome and showed us the whole process of how the wine is made. We appreciated it as they don't normally do tours and I am really happy about it - every time I will open Trinacria, I will picture in my mind the Cantina Birgi and the nice people we met.
We like Marsala a lot; it reminds us of a town called Zadar in Croatia. When Fausto's mum was at hairdressers, we went to a beach called San Teodoro. It's about 15 minutes drive from the city. We didn't like the beach as it's situated right by the road full of cars and the water was not crystal transparent. We understood that Marsala doesn't have spectacular beaches unfortunately, unless you go further out of the city.
