We arrived in Nuwara Eliya and got to our hotel. We were disappointed with the hotel, it was tiny and our room and bed were small. The owner of the hotel admitted that the camera angles made the room look bigger online and agreed to cancel our booking for free. We started a new search for a hotel that took us 4 hours. Eventually we went to an expensive hotel next door (£35). The room is big but scruffy and the beds creak when you move.
In the evening we went to the centre of Nuwara Eliya. It's dirty and unpleasant. The town is called "Little England" so before we arrived we had have high expectations. Although it has a golf course, some well-kept parks and some buildings founded by the British, such as a post office and a post box, it’s not so nice – there wasn’t much else that resembled England in the town. It had the usual bus station with lots of shops and it was chaotic.
When we came back to our hotel, we changed our plans once again (as we did in Hikkaduwa). We booked one more night in our hotel in Kandy so we are leaving Nuwara Eliya tomorrow. But first we will visit a tea factory, main reason why people come here. There are many tea factories and places to hike here, all the hills are covered by tea plantations.
In the pictures: post office in Nuwara Eliya and lunch we had in the centre.
