Pico de las Nieves

On our third day we left our hotel in Bandama and we drove to the highest peak of Gran Canaria called Pico de Las Nieves. Its height is 1,949 metres (6,394 ft) above sea level (in the picture).
The drive was very nice and as soon as we left the north part of the island, the “hurricane” stopped and it also stopped raining and the sun started shining. From the mountain we could see the clouds accumulated over the north part of the island and the sunny south part of the island. Incredible!
It was hot but pleasant, about 27 degrees. From Pico de las Nieves we drove to Puerto Rico, a town on the south coast where our apartment was. Although there were many hotels in the town and it was very touristy, the town was situated in the hills by the sea so we liked it.
