I travelled to Naples on 18th September where I was staying in a B&B right by the train station (Stazione Garibaldi). In my opinion Naples is one of the most beautiful cities in the world but the people litter it so much that it shocked me again.
On the first day the weather was a little bit strange and it was raining from time to time. I wanted to visit Parco Nazionale di Gaiola on the west side of Naples. I got to Mergellina station by Metro Line 2 and did not continue my journey any further because of the weather. However, I had a walk and lunch in Mergellina and it was really nice. Even the the architecture of the train station in Mergellina is stunning with all that marble inside the station. Opened in 1925, it is the third most important railway station in Naples, after Napoli Centrale and Napoli Campi Flegrei.
In the evening I went out in the centre of Naples. September 19th is the annual Festa di San Gennaro, the city's most important religious festival. The event draws huge crowds of both locals and visitors. San Gennaro was the Bishop of Benevento and a martyr who was persecuted for being a Christian and beheaded in 305 AD. He is the most important patron saint of Naples.
In the pictures: shocking rubbish on many streets of Napoli, Mergellina town and Festa di San Gennaro.
