Today we visited Long Bien Bridge on the Red River. It's an old, rusty and poorly maintained bridge with a rich history. Most people including the tour guides think that it was designed by Gustave Eiffel, the same person who designed the Eiffel Tower but apparently it's not true. Eiffel was involved in the tender to design it but he didn't win the bid. It was built by the French company Daydé & Pille between 1898 and 1902. To be honest we were asking ourselves how something so poorly maintained can be a tourist attraction but here we are.
