We did a cruise and canoeing on the waters of Alleppey/Allappuzha (Backwaters). The Kerala backwaters are a network of lagoons and canals lying parallel to the Arabian Sea of the Malabar coast. There are also interconnected lakes, rivers, and inlets, a labyrinthine system formed by more than 900 km of waterways. The boat cruise and canoeing were great, I enjoyed it so much. It was so peaceful and quiet, and so much nature at once, that we got headaches :) Fausto was struggling, he got very sleepy. It was wonderful to be on the water and surrounded by tall palm trees. We observed people who live there, they bathe in the water, clean teeth, and even drink it. If we did it, we would probably get very sick on the spot.
