From Tortuguero we took a boat to Pavona, and then a minibus to our next destination, La Fortuna. The journey was $60 so quite expensive, but the boat ride was very good and our accommodation hosts came with us to make sure that the transfer in Pavona went well. We were able to practice Spanish a lot, which was priceless, and our hosts gave us a lot of information about the local area.
