We had a lovely day yesterday spent with four Croatian couch surfers and this morning we took a bus to Rijeka, the third largest city of the country after Zagreb and Split (137 km, 2 hours, 12 pounds).
When we arrived, we got to our hostel right in the centre of the town and we did some visiting. Rijeka used to belong to Italy. It's a typical port city, small and not as interesting as the other places we have seen. It's quite dirty and has some buildings in need of restoration.
Croatia is a great country but there is only one thing I hate - cigarette smoke. There is no cigarette ban, you can smoke inside bars and restaurants and very many people smoke. Wherever you are, for example at a bus stop, there is always cigarette smoke coming from somewhere. Disgusting.
In the pictures: Rijeka's port and in front of our hostel in Jadranski Square.
