We arrived in Trieste at about 4 pm as it takes 2 hours to get there from Rijeka (147 km, cost: 7 pounds). When we were approaching the city centre on the bus, we already knew we liked Trieste. Beautiful buildings, clean and vibrant city.
Few days before Fausto contacted a lady who rents rooms, we went to her apartment and we took a room. We paid 20 pounds a night per person which was the most expensive accomodation in our trip (usually we paid 10 - 18 pounds) but as we found out later, there are no hostels in Trieste. Just hotels, and the city is not really prepared for tourists. It's not a popular destination as everyone goes to Rome, Florence, Milan et cetera but Trieste is so attractive that it's definitely worth visiting.
In the evening we met with Alessia. She lived in London for few years and then she came back to Italy where she feels happier than in England. I contacted her from London and we arranged to meet up. She is a very nice person; we had a drink with her and we came back to our apartment, very tired because of walking and visiting.
