Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur

We arrived in Kuala Lumpur on 17th April, on my birthday. Because of time difference, I lost 7 hours of my birthday but I was so happy to be in Malaysia!
We changed in Dubai which is a very nice airport. I have never seen so many tired people in any airport before, it's because Dubai is a transit airport and people arrive from many parts of the world. They wait for another flight and they are exhausted (exactly as I was) and there are even reclinable chairs so you can sleep on them before you get the next flight.

Our Couchsurfing host Fai Lee picked us up from the airport in Kuala Lumpur. I exchanged a lot of emails with her before our trip so it felt like meeting a friend in Malaysia. To Fausto's delight, she arrived in a Manchester United t-shirt.
She lives in the southern part of Kuala Lumpur, in a beautiful tall block of flats with a swimming pool.

The city was short of water supply because the state rations water. Each affected area receives two days of water supply followed by two days without water. On the 3rd day there is water supply from a big tank on the rooftop of the building. There is no water on the 4th day so people use water collected in buckets. It's a shame and at the same time ironic - Malaysia has the highest rainfall volume in the world but people have to suffer with shortage of water supply when the rainfall water can be cleaned and drinkable.
