In Chiang Mai

We took a plane from Phuket to Chiang Mai, 1,220 km, 1.5 hours on the plane, £50 each with Thai Smile Airways. The first thing I noticed when we landed was the suffocating climate and temperature (as we are far from the sea), almost 50 degrees. It made me feel so tired that I could hardly speak in the evening.
The city, second largest in Thailand, is dirty, smelly and chaotic. There is nothing to do apart from activity trips from the town to the jungle and maybe visiting temples, lots of temples (we visited a couple of them).
We went to a night market that was just a market by night with a lot of Chinese lamps hanging everywhere. We noticed a lot of old, even around 70 years old men, hanging around bars and enjoying company of very young Thai girls.
We are staying in the touristic Old City, nice name but nothing else to it. However, we had an excellent Thai curry for dinner and a great whole body oil massage, I even convinced Fausto to have one. Massages are very cheap in Chiang Mai, £4 an hour for a whole body massage, £3 an hour for a foot massage.
Unfortunately we missed the Thai New Year that was celebrated on 13 April and the festival that took place.

In the pictures: at a temple where you have to leave your shoes outside (same in people's houses and shops) and after a massage.
