In Bangkok

We took a plane to Bangkok, 600 km from Chiang Mai, 1 hour travel time (Nok Airlines, £32 each). The airports in Thailand, internal flights and prices are very good. They are clean and the service is great. In Thailand you have a security check twice, right when you enter the airport and another one at the gate.
We arrived in a hotel that Fausto looked up online, and after a short rest we went out. It's hot here as well but we are close to the sea, the air seems to be less heavy.
On the first day we did some visiting, we took Bangkok's Sky train and visited King Rama's Dusit Palace - royal residence and after that we went to the famous temple of the reclining Buddha. Bangkok has a Sky train that looks like an overground train in futuristic films. It also has an efficient underground system.

Then we took a river taxi that is very cheap (15 THB = 27 pence) and a great experience. There are tourist trips that do the same river journey and they charge much more for essentially the same trip. It was very hot and after lunch time I felt a little bit unwell for this reason but I felt better in the evening when it stopped being so boiling.
What we noticed in Thailand is a lot of exposed electricity cables, hanging down in towns and cities. It's too expensive to put them underground so they hang outside looking quite scary.
In the pictures: outside King Rama's Dusit Palace and with the reclining Buddha.
