On Friday we decided not to travel so we rested in the apartment in the morning and in the afternoon we went to a beach near our hotel (10 minutes by car). The beach was average and there were planes taking off and landing in the airport, right in front of the beach. However it was nice to swim in the sea and the transparent water again.

On Saturday we visited the lovely El Golfo town, located right by the sea on the west coast (the first picture was taken near the town). Then we went to Salinas de Janubio (area where salt is produced) and then to Los Hervideros, a stretch of bizarre-shaped cliffs and underwater caves produced by the solidification of lava and erosion. Los Hervideros refers to the amazing display that sees the waves force water into the labyrinth of caves with such a dramatic power it appears as if the sea is bubbling and boiling (in the second picture).
