On Thursday we went to a Timanfaya National Park in the west part of the island. The park is named Timanfaya meaning Fire Mountains because the broad area was affected by volcanic eruptions which struck Lanzarote between 1730 and 1736 and subsequent eruptions in 1824.
The landscape created by volcano eruptions is amazing - there is lava forming spectacular shapes and unusual landscape.
We had a ride on a camel and then we drove to Caleta de Famara town situated by Penedo Bay and the beach (Playa de Famara). The beach was beautiful but the waves were very strong as they are everywhere on the west coast of Lanzarote. I stayed in the water for about half an hour but the waves were so strong that I didn’t manage to swim much.
