This morning we took a bus to Polhena (little over 1 hour, 70 pence for both of us), situated between Mirissa and Matara, places we wanted to visit. We left our suitcases in the hotel and we went to Matara. It's another chaotic town of Sri Lanka. The forts are not impressive but we liked Paravi Duwa Buddhist Temple that can be seen from as far as you drive along the coast road near the town centre, and accessible via a lovely bridge (in the first picture. The second picture shows entrance to one of the forts).
It is Sunday so a lot of places to eat were closed. We had lunch in a local place which looked a bit dirty and fully of people handling food and after eating there I was scared we would be sick the next day. As it appeared later, we were absolutely fine.
