After lunch we took an Uber taxi and we went to the centre of Pune. As we didn't have internet, we asked the local hotel if they could book Uber for us. The reception staff not only booked it but also applied the hotel's discount, and offered us water. We thought it was a really nice gesture as we were not guests of the hotel.
In the centre of Pune we visited the ruins of Shaniwar Wada fort, which is a relaxing place. We got a bit annoyed as the locals pay 15 rupees to get in and foreigners 200 rupees (17 pence versus £2.30). But we were glad that we visited it. The fort was largely destroyed in 1828 by an unexplained fire and the surviving structures are now maintained as a tourist site.
