India, in Chennai (formerly known as Madras). Day 1

We arrived in India after a 9-hour direct flight which wasn't too bad but the seats were uncomfortable. When we arrived in our accommodation, we slept for 6 hours. In the evening we visited the famous T Nagar market in Ranganathan Street, it is usually overcrowded but as they close at 9 pm and we arrived at about 8 pm, it was very pleasant. My first impression of India is that it’s overcrowded (surprise surprise) but I am also pleasantly surprised that there are no beggars everywhere and nobody harasses us or tries to sell us something. I expected this to happen to be honest and I was not looking forward to it. Same nice surprise in the airport - good organisation, no harassment from taxi drivers, there are Uber and Ola stands where travellers can order a taxi and it's quick and cheap. So a lot of nice surprises on the first day. We also had dinner in our local café called Tea Trails Café, it was clean and the staff was chatting to us. The food was really nice and typical Indian and it cost 180 rupees per person so £2.
I have to say that thanks to Uber and Ola there's no need to negotiate prices with the taxi drivers and it makes life soooo much easier and soooo much pleasant! We’re using Uber and Ola for the first time ever on this holiday and I have become a big fan of them.
