We couldn't sleep at night, it's only 5.5 hours difference but we’re affected badly by jet-lag. There is a lot of noise from the roads during the day in the apartment we are staying but at night all the noise miraculously dies out and it's very quiet. As we found out later, this magic happens only in Chennai.
On the second day we went to George Town which is in the centre of Chennai. There’s so much noise in the streets made by vehicles and drivers sounding their horns that it's difficult to enjoy ourselves. We have seen some beautiful temples, Marina Beach which is a very wide beach and a couple of shopping centres. We had a very good Indian meal in one of them, cost 160 rupees per person so £1.80.
In the evening we went to our favourite café near our apartment, Tea Trails Café, where they serve amazing Indian teas. Yesterday I had Masala tea and today Five Spices tea. Fausto had Ginger tea yesterday and Cinnamon tea today. I think the teas are boiled with milk, they are served very hot and with a lot of milk. I am not a tea drinker but I love this tea. Cost: 80 rupees so 90 pence per tea.
The local people don't speak English well so sometimes it's difficult to communicate and I'm confused when they move their heads in this strange Indian way – we found out it means “yes”.
