We had good sleep in a very comfortable room, on a big bed. After a quick Indian breakfast made by Foram we left with Foram to visit Dharavi slum, the biggest slum in India and the third biggest slum in the world. Initially we were going to book a tour and pay 950 rupees so £11 pp but Nimit called Ganesh, a couchsurfer he knew, and Ganesh offered to show us the slum for free. Ganesh used to live there and he knows the slum very well. Visiting Dharavi slum was an incredible experience. It's not just a slum, it's a factory producing traditional pottery and textile as well as large recycling industry, processing recyclable waste from other parts of Mumbai. Recycling industry in Dharavi is apparently employing 250,000 people. Incredible. We saw people making the pottery, people separating plastic and metal, people making clothes, people making food… people working very hard in the slum. It’s also known for its leather products.
