Cancun

In the evening we travelled to the famous Cancun, one of Mexico's top two resort towns. We took a collectivo bus from Tulum to Playa del Carmen and then another collectivo to Cancun. We arrived in our hotel which is a very nice hotel in the centre of the town.
In the evening we went out. Previously we heard a lot of negative opinions about Cancun but I suppose they were related to the big hotels on the peninsula which have nothing to do with the real Mexico. Cancún was just a small fishing village when it was targeted for development in 1974.
The town centre is not bad at all, not too touristy, with some restaurants and stalls in the main square with the street food.
