In the evening we had a walk by the Perfume River. Then after dinner we met with Dao from Couchsurfing and her boyfriend Sao. They took us to a very nice coffee place with local people and we had amazing ginger tea. It was Dao's birthday. They told us about their lives, their jobs, plans to get married and have children. Surprisingly Dao would like to have a daughter rather than a son which is unusual because sons look after the parents so everyone wants to have a son in Vietnam.
Sao sells Robusta and Arabica coffee that comes from a village where Dao grew up. He showed us and made us try both types of beans. I really like the smell and taste of the Robusta coffee which I had never drunk before our trip, and which is known to be low-acidity and extremely bitter. In comparison to the Arabica coffee plant, Robusta is easier to care for, less susceptible to disease, has a greater crop yield, double the caffeine and more antioxidants. Vietnam contributes to over 40% of the world's Robusta bean production. The coffee here is served with condensed milk or egg yolk and condensed milk (called egg coffee).

We didn't visit all the places we planned to visit in Hue but overall we had a good time despite the bed bugs, and the highlight of Hue was meeting Dao and Sao.
