27 February 2022

Today (Sunday) we had a walk around the place where Raquelita lives (Al Zeina/Al Rahah beach) and she took us to the centre of Abu Dhabi. Sundays used to be working days, but Abu Dhabi decided to adjust to the western countries and the weekend has been moved only a month ago, from Friday - Saturday to Saturday - Sunday.

We took some amazing pictures in front of the Etihad Towers and we visited the Emirates Palace that has become a very posh hotel. I am not much into luxury so, although it was good to visit the palace, it didn't make a big impression on me. The absolute winner of the day was a dinner we had in a Fish Market. You choose your own fish from the hundreds of fresh fish on display and it's cooked or grilled for you, and served with pitta bread, salad, pickles, hummus and tahini. So far the local people we met and chatted to have been very helpful and polite. They look very traditional and a bit scary in their abayas and thawbs (robes for women and men) but when we talk to them, we feel very comfortable.
