In the evening we met with a group of Couchsurfers in a nice quiet café Coffee Talk English, it was a cultural exchange meeting and indeed we talked a lot about our cultures - similarities and differences. We talked a lot about the responsibilities as it's a very interesting topic. One guy said he doesn't want to have a wife because he will have to give all his earnings to her as it's customary in Vietnam. The wife decides how the money will be spent. She also limits what her husband can and can't do, and she is very jealous too. Sounds like a nightmare he he. Also, in Ho Chi Minh City the family responsibilities are not as severe as in the capital Hanoi. The children are not obliged to look after their parents and they don't have to live with them as it happens in Hanoi (situated 1,000 km from Ho Chi Minh City). If a couple marries they can live independently. The Vietnamese people we met were very friendly, interesting and open - we had a great time.
