Paradise and Phong Nha caves

3 January was a rest day, checking out surroundings and deciding what activities to do next. It's quiet here, there is the River Son and mountains and not much beeping from motorbikes. On Saturday 4 January we were picked up in the morning by our guide and we went to the Paradise Cave which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cave was discovered by a local man in 2005 and the first 5 km of this cave was explored by the British Cave Research Association. This cave is 31 km long, longer than Phong Nha Cave which previously had been considered the longest cave in the national park. The height can reach to 72 m and 150 m wide. The limestone formation is spectacular, with many stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave.
After lunch we took an old noisy boat and we visited the Phong Nha Cave which was also spectacular. There are many caves here, they are huge and breathtaking. They are must-see places to visit in Vietnam and a highlight of our trip.
