After the boat trip in the beautiful Tam Coc we took an overnight sleeper bus to Phong Nha National Park. The bus was a great experience. When we got on the bus and we found free seats on the upper level, I was really angry. The bus didn't look the same as on the online pictures and I had thought the buses were luxury sleepers like they are in many countries of South America. The upper level was horrible, the bed mattress tatty, and I was worried I would fall from the bed as my seat belt was not working. If we had an accident, I would fly across the bus. I was terrified. Then I saw free beds in the front of the bus on the lower level. So we moved there straight away and at the end the overnight trip wasn't so bad altogether. We were so tired that even the driver's very loud beeping every 5 seconds didn't bother us (but how can you beep when people are sleeping??!). If I wasn't so tired I would probably not sleep all the night.
We arrived in our hotel in Phong Nha at 4 am, had an early check-in for a small fee and we carried on sleeping in very clean, comfortable king-size beds in our deluxe room.
